Definition of a Cynic

A cynic is a man ''who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing'' according to Oscar Wilde. He did have a way with words. What brings this to mind is the standard greeting in the western world upon meeting someone for the first time

''What do you do?'' Now if I am feeling benevolent I treat it as a harmless question and an icebreaker of sorts although I have no answer. But the cynic in me says this is just a roundabout way of finding out my worth and value to the inquisitor. The real question is '' what do you do to make a living?'' or bluntly How much do you make?  Anyway it
is part of the general lexicon so we have to live with it and not take offence.
The only answer of any wit would be to a good looking member of the opposite sex.....
Q:What do you do?
A: Hopefully...you

  1. By the way, commenting worked fine for me, but if people did want to email you, they can't because they don't see your email address on the top right corner, only their own (if they are signed in to google) and the "create blog" and "sign in" links.
